Hi all, I am Taito Okamura, Lead instructor of Leave No Trace Level 2 Instructor Beijing Course. I am so excited to share LNT with Chinese outdoor educator. I have recognized that Chinese LNT is much more developing than Japan. Although we established LNT Japan as the first international branch in Asia, I would respect your introducing LNT very early and spreading into all over the country.
LNT has over a hundred nation who introduce LNT into the country as well as China. It became irreversible outdoor ethic in the world. They have 4 international branch; Canada, New Zealand, Ireland, and Japan. I am wondered that China is not international folks. Chinese initiative will be big positive impact to the Asia. I would be so happy to help and talk together you became LNT international folks.
Finally, I would like to appreciate Yanjie Zhang, director of 山海明心 to invite LNT Level 2 Instructor Course. We met at American outdoor leadership conference 2020 and immediately hit off on our vision developing professionalism in Asian outdoor industry. I hope our friendship will expand to the bridge of Chinese and Japanese Leave No Trace and spread it to Asian LNT network.
Candidates
We have 12 Candidates. Each of you have assignment of Student Teaching (See below). You are divided 3 tent groups which is cooking together during the hiking. It will be decided on the first day of the course and make meal plan and get some food together.

Equipment
Proper Hiking Wear for 3 day, Rain Jacket, Sleeping Bag & Pad, Cooking Gear, Table Wear, Mag Cup, Knife, Backpack (60L+), Hiking Boots, Campsite shoes, Flashlight, 2 Water Bottles(1L), 3 Plastic Bag(50-60L), Zip Packs, 3 Stuff Bag, Fire Starter, Trail Food for 3 day, Toilet, Personal Medicine, First Aids, and Teaching Material.
Student Teaching
You will be expected 30 min teaching about each LNT principle below which you are assigned (See Candidate). The most of teaching will be run in the field. There are No PC and No big white board. You have to create teaching tool that can be available in the outdoor. Also you will challenge to create your lesson become active learning style. Not just talking and not just sitting. There many excellent teaching theory to have the lesson active style in the world but, LNTJ is using SPEC model to create lesson(See below). I hope you to challenge SPEC to create your lesson in this course.

SPEC Model
Student-Centered: Students are encouraged to develop their own questions and arrive at their own conclusions by themselves.
Problem-Based: Students receive the question or task and learn new concept in the process of problem-solving.
Experiential: Students learn by doing. Student reflect their experience, generalize the new concept and apply it to new situation.
Collaborative: Student work together to resolve the problem. They put their individual idea together and integrate them as conclusion.
Course Policy
・Hiking involves actual risk and it is your responsibility to manage your physical and mental safety.
・No alcohol or smoking is allowed during the course.
・Refrain from using mobile phones during the program.
・If there is any undesirable behavior as LNT instructor, we will consult with the candidates and ask them to withdraw from the course.
